We're excited to announce the opening of our new Train Room, a dedicated space for model train enthusiasts, families and curious minds of all ages!
The Train room is located next to Laffitte's Pub in GC. We look forward to welcoming you aboard!
Come visit and share the joy of hearing running trains echoing into the halls Of Eagle's Trace.
While our layout provides a beautiful scenic representation of the world of trains "Modeling" is just one aspect of the group. We are not a model train club per se: in fact we don't even used the term "club" in the name. We are train enthusiasts. We seek members who have any interests in trains.
Did trains run by your house at night keeping you awake? Did Grandpa, Dad or perhaps you worked for a railroad line? Do you enjoy travel by train? Are you simply inspired by the chug chug of an old steamer pulling out of the station? Come share your stories, pictures and magazines with us.

Those who were able to attend the "Grand Opening" of our RRIG layout room this afternoon will agree, I believe, that it was a signal success. The crowd of attendees was impressive (including members of the Resident Life staff, members of the Administration, and Jorge Otero, among others). Ribbon cutting by Kristen Kennedy's children was cute. The event elicited the hoped-for comments from a broad group of residents about railroad-related family memories, their childhood experiences with model trains, and even their employment histories with railroad companies as adults. "Engagement" at its best, and likely only a start.
The addition of the railroad lantern turned lamp, the impressive wood locomotive, sound and smoke from the steam engine, the four-foot static display of Jesse's loco, and the colorful posters and wall drape enhanced the experience of seeing N, HO, and O gauge trains run. Thanks to all who were able to bring something to show, to those who welcomed and guided guests, and to those who conversed with the visitors about railroads and model railroading. It was a great group effort and spoke well of our group.

You might have understated it Barry! I’d label today a towering success. The interest was genuine and conspicuous.
Thanks for leading us and making it happen!
